Thursday Feb 26 Granada

Thursday, February 26, 2009 Granada Spain
Up early for the hostel breakfast and out the door to explore Granada and find our way around. We found the place that we will have to pull our bags to for a Taxi when we get ready to leave… not to far but the cobblestone paths and some steps will not be so easy… the church doors were all locked so no Mass for us this morning. Found the bus that will take us up to the Alhambra (the great castle that is The Place to see in Granada) so tomorrow we will know how to get to this and we picked up our reserved tickets today. Later we just wondered up and down the small winding streets (alleys they looked like) and by luck found an overlook of the castle walls that was a real photo stop.
Nearby was a little grocery store that carried the items that we needed for our meals today. Back to the hostel and a yogurt lunch then back out into the streets to find the Royal Chapel to view the burial place of Queen Isabel and King Ferdinand. But before we left the hostel we took our showers as we find the bathrooms not nearly so busy in the mid afternoon as they are in the evening and morning. Then we spent tooo much time looking for Mary’s suitcase keys, which I could not find…guess what… they ended up
being right where they should have been, but I didn’t see them because of a notebook in that pocket. Decided it should be a journal entry and actually gave our hair time to dry before going back out into the streets. The weather is warm when in the sun but cool and jacket weather in the morning and the evening. Actually we wear our wind jackets most of the time as they provide us a feeling of security over our cameras and purses. Told Martha today that she looks like a humpback, with her coat over her back pack, and I look like I am pregnant with all my stuff hanging in front. Then when in the sun we have these floppy sun hats and with elbows linked down the streets we go…. two old ladies having a grand time exploring the streets.
