Friday all day in Arrondissment #6

Another busy day today. Again I was first up and made a trip to the Boulanger down the street to pick up fresh bread for all of us. By 11 AM we were off on another day adventure in Paris with Martha as our leader. One of the first areas we visited was the church that was used in the movie Midnight in Paris, which we all loved, St Etienne where at one time it was Home to the body of St Genevieve. I was happy to find a lovely statue of St Anthony of Padau. Not only here but also in one other church also. Always look for him and St Theresa of Lexius along with my favorite artist, David Teniers, The Younger.

Next we visited the Pantheon, which used to be a church but is now where many famous artist and political people are buried. Huge building with lots to look at. Back in 2009 we had walked by it many times, as we were staying in the area, but had never went in. It was here that we purchased our 6 day Paris Museum Passes. Next we went to the studio home of the artist Eugene Delacroix. He had one painting that struck my fancy of flowers done in 1849. His home, studio and gardens were lovely to see. The next church, Saint Germaine had another St Anthony. We walked and walked looking for a restaurant that Martha remember....came upon the famous eating place Les Deux Magots but the menu prices were rather steep. So we forged on till we found a charming cafe were we had a lovely lunch before heading over to the Louvre. My lunch was a wonderful vegetarian dish which included a tasty soup with Tofu, coconut milk and many vegetables. It was located across the street from the Seine River near the bridge with all the locks on it and many vendor artist stalls.

It was before 5 by the time we all arrived at the Louvre.... And almost 9 before we left for home on the metro. Our first stop was at, of course, the famous Mona Lisa..... Then we wondered around seeing lots of statues and paintings, some huge, by many famous people. At last we found the area for the apartment of Napoleon III who's beautiful furnishing have been left intact. Before leaving everyone wanted a snack before heading home. So we found a cafe where we ended up with the most wonderful deserts with water instead of tea.

We had been out on the streets since 11 AM and was now 9 PM....and according to Bonnie pedometer we have walked 6.5 miles today plus an ungodly amount of stairs.... So we agreed it was time to head home. Back home everyone was busy with their computers, doing pictures, blogs,Skype and emails. Jane found the instructions for the little washing machine on her computer....the decision was, how much soap... Anyway with fruit, breads, cheese, chocolate and wine we had a fun evening and it was after 1 AM before we all got to bed.
