Here it is Wednesday morning .. Today we saw things located 8th Arrondissement. This is a full day first we were off to find the right train station to purchased our overnight train tickets for Florence.
Next we found our way by Metro to the Park Monceau, a lovely huge area that is surrounded by huge old homes, one of which is the museum Hotel de Camondo. This Musuem is not just a setting of a prestigious collection, but a testimony of a living mansion at the turn of the 20th century. The furnishing in this well preserved home along with objects d'art.
Our next stop was a small shop were we enjoyed a light treat before continuing on to find the Musee Jacquemart-Andre.
This original home is full of the art work collected by this childless couple who left their house intact to the people of Paris. Not my
first visit, but I enjoyed it just as much as the last time. The double circle staircases and balconies are so marvelous. The designer of this home came in second choice to design the Le Palais Garnier Opera house for the city of Paris and he outdid himself to show the city what they had lost by not using his talents.
As this is Jim's last night, he and Martha went off to meet friends for dinner and we gals made our way home and had a quiet evening with snacks and a game of cards before getting to bed. Tomorrow will come early and we have lots planned.
