Travel Tips: Shoes

I have been trying to think about what I could talk about now that I am home......my thought is to give you traveling tips. So like once a week I will be back with information that would be helpful to you in planning your own travels. Today it will be about shoes. Many people think that they need lots of shoes on a trip. I choose sandals because I do have bunions and the straps are adjustable. The shoes pictured above are all that I took with me for three months of traveling. The black sandals with string straps are made of rubber and double both for shower shoes and a dressy shoe when going out for the evening.

The gray sandals with the tennis shoe like soles were the ones that I wore everyday. They also are made of rubber, my sister had leather sandals and found it always took them awhile to dry if we got caught in the rain. When it was cold I would wear a regular sock, a thin insulated sock and over this a wool sock that I borrowed from my husband so it would be larger, With these 3 pairs of socks my feet were never cold. Most times only one pair of socks were required and best of all when it was warm you can go without socks.... In London, our worst weather, I used a plastic bag between the top two sock layers which kept my foot dry.

I have those same COLUMBIA sandals!
Took them to Yosemite in 2005. They are still good, though the Velcro is a bit weak now.

So, who is the faster walker: Mary or Martha?
