Days 8 & 9 - Out to Sea

Day 8 - Wednesday April 11, 2012

Woke up this morning to plumbing problems on our deck. Thank heavens they had it fixed by mid morning. This morning we attended another Enrichment Lecture by Gary Fuller called “Moorea – Changes in the population of the Polynesian Islands”.

Lunch was in the Park Café sharing a table with a lovely German couple. Actually with over 2000 passengers on board the Americans only have about 360 people. The largest group is from Australia with the Canadians coming in second. This is natural as we left from Australia and the voyage ends in Vancouver, Canada. The third largest group is from Germany. After lunch we went into the cinema and watched the last half of the movie “The Help”. A good movie which we have seen before.

This afternoon while Phil played Bingo I was able to pick a good internet signal and caught up on my posting and was able to copy & paste Martha’s blog into a word file so that we could read it later on. Tonight was another formal dress dining night and our whole table have elected to just go our own way this evening. We ended up at the Park Café again for a nice little supper and then went to the early show.

Tonight’s early show was a wonderful entertaining song & dance routine called “Tango Buenos Aires”. Looks like we may end up the evening by going back upstairs at 10 to watch the Millionaire Gameshow in the Colony Club. We did and it was a lot of fun.
I think about 50 people, including us, took tickets for the lottery but only 2 were chosen to be on the show.

Day 9 – At Sea
April 12, 2012

Up at 8 AM and off to Mass before breakfast and another Enrichment Lecture, this time it was called Bora Bora, Polynesian Expansion and the settlement of Hawaii. Dr. Fuller tends to, from time to time, stray from the original subject matter but as always keeps our interest for the full hour.

Phil was ready to spend some time in the casino… does not take time to spend our daily allotted quarters in the machines. We did win some this time and I have them tucked into my purse for another try tonight. Maybe the machines will be looser at that time.

Lunch was at the buffet in the Windjammer where we enjoyed a large salad with lots of chick peas for me and a plate of meat & potatoes for Philip. We were pleased to have Father David join us at our table which gave us the opportunity to get to know him a bit better. Desert, Jello for me and ice cream for Phil.

This afternoon, while Philip rested I went back to the theatre for another seminar by our Mentalist – Phoenix called how to improve your memory. He provided us with several tricks on how to remember a list of items and also names. It’s now late afternoon and we are dressing for the evening dinner in our Hawaiian clothes so that we can get a photo taken before dinner. We are getting a special price for a group of 10 pictures and still need four more to fill out the group.

After our photo stop we sat in the Centrum and listened to some wonder music before going in to a lovely dinner, after which we went back to our room and changed clothes. Then we were off to find some dancing music and later we joined another couple to play a game of Trivia in the Schooner Bar. We did really well and only missed first place by a couple of points. At 9 PM went to the theatre for a show by the Classical Singer Jenifer Fair, an American gal with one terrific voice…. A late nite snack and its back to our cabin to get ourselves organized as tomorrow we dock in Tahiti.
