Don't have my notes downstairs with me but thought that I would, as long as I have the internet, just make a quick update. The travel on Quanta was fantastic.. talk about service. Seemed like every time we turned around they were giving us either food or drink. Headsets for private TV at your seat, a huge selection of movies, first run or oldies to choose from, blankets, pillows... etc etc you name it and we had it. Even had a spare seat in our row so we sat very comfortable. In Brisbane
we stopped for fuel and everyone had to get off with all their carry ons and go through security again while they fueled the airplane. Again the crew got our bags down for us took us in wheelchairs right past everyone standing in line, keeping track of all our stuff then back to wait for reloading... again, we were first. Don't think I will ever fly without using the wheelchair again. A great service from the airlines to those of us elderly people, especially when you do have health issues.
It was a very long flight 17 hours I think. On arrival we went through customs declaring our nuts and dried fruit in our bags, but were allowed to keep them as
we didn't have any fresh fruit or other things that were not allowed in. Got ourselves a taxi to our hostel in Kings Cross. The cab driver was surprised that we were going to a hostel. But even a low cost hotel is more than $200 a night and as we really just need a place to hang our heads for 3 nights while we recover from the long flight this is working great for us.
Monday was a lost day, but this morning, Tuesday we went out and purchased tickets for the hop on/ hop off bus. Spent many hours riding around and discovering the great city of Sydney Australia. We spent alot of time at the Sydney Opera House and took many pictures of it and the Harbour Bridge. Best thing about the tour bus that they told us all about everything that we were seeing as we drove along.
It's late afternoon and we are back at the hostel...much to my delight a nice young fellow got my computer to work for me. Hope that when I turn it off it will come back again for me without any problems. For now, hope that Martha has arrived safely in Paris and that everyone at home are fine. Next time we should be on the ship.
