Sick Days at Sea Days 26 thru 28
Sunday 4-29 thru Tuesday thru Tuesday 5-1-12
I finally realize the true value of cabins with a balcony. When you’re not feeling very good and you spend most of your time in your inside cabin it would be so very nice to Be able to open the door and let in all that sunlight and fresh air. I have been blocking the door to the hallway open with a chair so we are getting some fresh (? Hallway) air into the room.
Thanks to Don & Jane we do have one dose of antibiotics with us and I made the decision that Phil should take it as his chest was really hurting from all the coughing. I on the other hand have been using day & night Quill along with some Robafen DM.
Another thing we have found out about back to back trips is that they do repeat a lot of the movies and shows. They have sprinkle a few new ones here and there to keep us happy. We have only been to a couple of shows and but several movie during this 12 night Cruise. Really they would be hard pressed to meet or beat that first 18 days. We really think that Royal Caribbean is a great company and would be pleased to travel with them again.
It’s been fun playing a lot more trivia with a new group of friends. They have this about 3 times a day. Went to Mass this morning with the new priest and found him to be a charming man, speaks well and gives a good homily. Today we had a large turn out as after Mass he also did a blessing of the sick. Know that the activity director’s people were standing around wringing their hands as we Catholics kept the Colony Club busy for almost an hour past our allotted time.
Think that I already told you about our trip back into Hilo with a medical emergency, well during Mass this morning, about 9:30. The Captain came on to explain why the ship had Stopped. A warning light had come on regarding one of the engines, and as the sea was Pretty calm at this time, they had decided to repair it rather than just give it a temporary fix. So for about 5 hours we floated around in the North Pacific Ocean. One thing is we were due West of San Francisco so guess we could have gotten help from them if needed. But what a mess that would have been.
The ship has a really good way to adjust the clocks.. they do it one hour at a time every
few days at noon. A very painless way and much easier to adjust to than 3 hours at once.
A lot of the regular activities have restarted since we’ve left the islands. This made a lot of sense as so many people were off the ship everyday visiting each island. It’s been interesting to watch all the deaf people conversing with each other. Most late afternoon they seem to meet in the Centrum. They always have a music group playing for entertainment but because of their group it’s been such a busy place that we don’t go but stand on the upper floors and listen to the music. What we like to do is stand on the upper floor and look down to watch them talking with each other…...hands just a flying.
On Sunday they sold tee shirts and had a walk to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation. Every cruise they raise a lot of money doing this and It’s for a good cause. Monday night while I stayed home for an early night Phil went out to play music with several of the Hawaiian music guys…He says that he bought them all a drink but I wonder if a little of it didn’t disappear in the Casino. He has a really hard time staying away from the machine that pushes quarters. It’s now 8:30 and I have been busy typing this so that I can post it tomorrow. Think I told you that I am having a really hard time working with the new program layout for Google blog’s. Yesterday I tried to post a picture but it didn’t turn out very well. Phil has left with his Ukulele again but this time he left his sea pass card with me so he couldn’t be so generous with buying drinks.
This will most likely the last time that I will post before we get home. Then hopefully I will be able to post some pictures of our trip I must say that Philip has been really good about letting me buy the ships photos. I think we have about 15. My plan is to scan them into the computer when we get home and then use the actual glossy photos as Gifts for our children and grandchilder. At least that’s the plan.
We miss everybody and look forward to getting home… and then up north just before the 18th of May.
