Up by 6:30 AM. Martha and I always seem to be up early as we enjoy our quiet morning time. But today our roommates are going to have to get up soon so that they can get packed as we are hoping to get out to Rue Cler and also walk pass the world peace wall near the Eiffel Tower before taking a Taxi over to the area near the Luxembrough Park.
Well it's 5AM Friday morning and I have been awake since 3... New apartment is not as great as the old one for being up early alone. I woke up because one of us snores much loader than the other 3. Yes we all snore but at different levels and also we had such a strange noise in the kitchen...I thought maybe we had a small animal. Later I discovered it is the fridge making the noise every so often. Anyway as I seem to be keeping Martha awake I went back to bed and laid quiet for a couple of hours trying to figure out where I could go to type on my computer. Finally have ended up in the tiny first floor toilet.
Thursday was a fun day. After getting the apartment ready for a turn over we were off on the Metro Again to further explore the area around the Eiffel Tower. We saw a big street market going on and thoroughly enjoyed wandering down the rows of vendors with all their wonderful items for sale. No comparing it to the red barn. We walked a long way, but slowly and were rewarded by everyone enjoying seeing things around them at a quieter pace. While we made use of our museums pass it seems like we were racing around trying to see as much as we could....now were just going to really enjoy the city of Paris for these last 7 days.
Some of the places we saw on Thursday were the UNESCO foundation buildings, the World Peace Wall, we found the 2 restaurants where Scott had entertained us the rainy evening of our late night trip up to the top of the Eiffel Tower . At last we found Rue Cler, a favorite of Martha's .....where we all enjoyed cheese and egg for me...ham for the others Crapes for lunch. I also enjoyed my first cup of cupincino on the trip. All to soon we had to make a fast trip on the Metro back to our apartment as we had arranged for a taxi to transport us and our bags across town to our new home.
The new apartment is much larger and even has a separate loft bedroom. Martha and I are using the fold out downstairs which is great as I won't have to navigate the tiny stairs during the night. I important item..we are on the fourth floor approximately 85 steps on a circular staircase with no elevator. However, the views out the windows are wonderful. Well it's almost six so think I will end this as we have a early trip over to Notre Dame to meet Jane and Vi for mass this morning.
