Wednesday , D'Orsay - Paris Archaeological Crypt

The twins have been up since 7:30 typing away out in the kitchen. It's now 9:30...Bonnie and Jane are starting to stir around. As this is our last valid Museum Pass day, today's plans include a lot of walking. Martha has quite a list laid out so will see how much of it that we can accomplish. So it's off to the Metro We go....prepared for both rain and/or sun as we go our merry way.

With a short ride on the Metro we were soon at the Musee d' Orsay by 11:30 in the back door with our magic Museum pass and on to explore the many floors of art works housed in this old original train station. The only sad thing was photos were not allowed.....so I did the next best thing and made notes as to which art work I would like pictures of and when we got back to the apartment the Internet gave me great pictures. We were however able to take lots of pictures through the huge clock faces that were on various outside walls and had some great views.

Martha and I left earlier than Bonnie and Jane to walk down to the bridge that she and Jim had placed a lock on last year...I had brought pictures so that we could maybe find it..we think maybe we did..at least we were close to the right area, we think, but fun to look...and Martha took the best picture taken of me so far on this trip. On we walked....all the way to Notre Dame, at least a mile or more, which would have been okay except I am dealing with a bad foot again. On the plane coming over I fell asleep with my foot stuck in the aisle and a food cart rolled up the top of my left foot... Ouch

Our next stop was to tour the archaeological Crypt which is located underground in front of Notre Dame. They were excavating for a parking garage in 1965 when they discovered buildings from ancient times. This was our last use of our Musuem pass but feel like we really have made good of it and got our money's worth. Because of the rain and my bad foot Martha and I made a decision to head back to our apartment for dinner at home. But first, much to my delight she took me over to Shakespeare and Company.... The old bookstore... I really got to walk thru all 3 floors today and I told her that she could just leave me here for the next several hours and I would be happy as a clam. But decision was made to continue on to the apartment on the metro.

Well it 10:30 now and time for me to close and post this as need to get to bed. Tomorrow is moving day for us.
