Tuesday - My morning at home

Everyone was up by 7AM. Plan was to get an early start back out to Versailles so that Martha, Bonnie and Jane could do a morning tour of the Palace. We had passed on this on Sunday as the crowds were so huge that day. I had a wonderful tour of this building back in 2009 so I opted for a quiet morning at home. I will join them when they return to see more of Paris this afternoon. Have really enjoyed myself....went down the street to our local bread shop and enjoyed a wonderful croissant along with some fruit and of course Nutella for breakfast. I am passing on the coffee and still enjoying my cups of hot water. I will add more to this tonight.

Turned out that Versailles was even busier today than Sunday but the girls did get a tour of the Palace and called me to meet them a couple of stops down the metro line as they were running late. It was almost 3 by the time we joined up and headed for the Rodin Museum, another new one for me. Again, we used our Museum pass to walk right by the long line and enter right away. Very impressive home used by Rodin more as a studio than home. Both the garden and the home were filled with works by Rodin... Of course most recognizable for me was the Thinker. I did buy a key chain with the thinker on it. As the light was quickly beginning to fade, we made a dash to see the stained glass windows in Sainte Chapelle, again we passed the lines with our Museum pass. Tomorrow is our last valid day for this pass so know that we will again see several more before the end of the day.

Even tho it was late, after 5:30 we took a chance and walked very fast to Notre Dame Cathedral....we were in luck, a evening Mass or Vespers had started so they were still allowing people to come into the church. Martha and I both stopped to light candles and say prayers for our various family members. I made a mental knot on Joe's prayer quilt In hopes that he will soon see some improvements. We were able to make it all around the outside walking area before they started telling us that we needed to leave. On Saturday this is where we will be meeting Jane and Vi for the 8 AM mass so we will have time to see more of the church at that time. Martha has plans for us to climb the bell tower before we leave Paris but that's another day. Was pleased to find a statue of St Therese in one of the alcoves.

Last stop of the day was the old bookstore "Shakespeare and Company" ... I had read that they have a Mad Hatters Tea Party every Sunday and that all are invited. I had the time as 1 to 2 but so glad we stopped and asked as it is really 4-6. Anyway this is one of the things on "my list". The rain had started to come down again so out came the green poncho as we made our way to the metro and home. We had lots of leftovers in the fridge so ended up with a pretty good dinner here at home. Soon we were all working on our computers and having cheese, bread and chocolate for desert. Even with all the walking I think I am gonna hate to step on that scales when I get home.
