Monday: Shopping trip in AM -Bus Tour - Walk the Area

This morning early Jane left for a quick trip over the channel to check on her mum. she will be back on Wednesday. Martha and I got out early on the bus and metro for a drive by of the Church Madeline then off the bus at the large department store Printemp...up to the rooftop for a new view of the city. Then over to the Galleria Lafayette so I could purchase a souvenir cup like The one that Jane bought several days ago. We were back at the apartment by noon to pick up Bonnie.

First goal this afternoon was to find our way to Pont L'Alma to view the overpass that has become a memorial to Diana since she died in the tunnel below. Saw several new inscriptions relating to her new grandson Prince George . Sad to see but good that she is lovingly remember as the People's Princess.

Back on the bus and over to the Louvre where we saw the first arch in a series of three that are in a row, this one is called the Carrousel Arch. When you stand under it and look down thru the gardens, in the distance you will see, the Arc de Triomphe and then a long way away is the La Defense Grand Arch. Started off walking down the shopping street called Rue Rivoli trying to find a cape for Bonnie. stopped at McDonalds for a WC break and purchased croissants for a quick snack before getting on the bus #69 to ride the complete route as talked about in Rick Steve's book.

The end of the line was at the Eiffel Tower where we took some last pictures as this will most probably be our last time to view this area. We caught the RER train back to the Notre Dame and began walking our way back to the apartment. This was my first time to walk back along the streets and because we kept Martha's pace down to a "stroll" I was able to walk the distance. Part way home we stopped for a drink at a cute street cafe..got some good pictures, a couple of which I have posted on Facebook. Stopped at Martha old hotel and visited with Issy, the lobby cat.... Soon we were home...climbing the 77 steps, back up to our apartment where we put together our dinner before settling down to work on our photos and blogs. That is after we made our phone calls home to let everybody know that we were okay and tucked in for the night.
